MENTAL HEALTH FIRST AIDER

I started my care journey back in 2015 not having much understanding of autism and learning disabilities. I began as a support worker and progressed to assistant manager. I still go out and support our young people, which, for me, is an important part for me to be able to do my role. This helps me have an understanding of the wonderful people we have in our service. The best part of my job is seeing all the different personalities and quirks of our young people and supporting them through their everyday lives and helping them achieve their goals, no matter how small.

My majority of my working life has been in the retail industry, managing the online part of a major high street retailer. Before that, I studied Business at the University of Hull, where I took a keen interest in Human Resources. I joined GS in December 2023 and since then, I have developed a range of knowledge and skills of recruitment, training and admin related topics. I am also a mental health first aider, as I strongly that a strong wellbeing helps create that excellent work life balance.
I started working at GS Social Care Solutions Ltd in 2011 as a support worker and have progressed through the business, becoming Registered Manager for the CQC provisions in 2018. Working with our amazing children, young people and adults who have a variety of learning and physical disabilities provides me with an unparalleled job satisfaction. The daily interactions, witnessing their resilience and growth, evoke a profound sense of purpose and accomplishment.

BUSINESS MANAGER
I am a Registered Children's Nurse and qualified in 2020. Prior to joining GS Social Care in 2022, I worked in Paediatric Critical Care, and in the community supporting children with complex health needs. My love for complex care started in my first year at university when I became a home carer for children with medically complex needs.
My role at GS Social Care is to oversee our Complex Packages of Care, where we care for children with medical complexities in their own home. I love getting to know the children and their families and the journey they have been on. I also enjoy teaching and have been able to continue this with training and supporting the staff working on the packages of care.

I have worked in the business since it opened in 2006. My role started as a support worker to a very complex, non verbal 15 year old boy who had autism. He was initially 3:1 and I supported him for 3 years - this is where my love for autism and learning about this amazing condition first started. I then progressed through the business to the position I am in now. At the heart of everything, I try to implement in my role that the service users have everything in place to meet their social, communication and sensory needs to give the best quality of life. I really enjoy developing strategies with staff through their Autism training to meet individual needs and feeling that I can make a small difference - that is why I feel GS is here!

2018 was when my career at GS Social Care Solutions Ltd started as a Care Co-Ordinator and now a Care Leader, before joining GS I had worked in care for 4 years and before then I worked in childcare.
Working with our amazing young people and adults is such a privilege, no day is ever the same and the best part is seeing them achieve their goals and enabling them to live a fulfilled life to the best of their ability. I feel proud to work for a company that is so passionate for the care and support that we offer.
ASHLEIGH RUSHTON
DIRECTOR
PAYROLL AND
ACCOUNTS
I have been part of this esteemed company since its inception, joining on day one when Dorothy and Glyn laid the foundations. Initially, I commenced my journey within the company as a general office assistant and outreach support worker. As time progressed, I found myself naturally gravitating towards the realms of accounts and payroll. Delving into these areas not only piqued my interest but also brought me immense joy and satisfaction in the tasks at hand. The meticulous nature of managing accounts and ensuring a seamless payroll process appealed to my core skills and interests, making it a niche I embraced wholeheartedly. I was then appointed as a Director of the the company in July 2020 and was pleased to assume this new role and take on the responsibility of managing the day to day accounts and finances of the company. In my capacity as a director, I am dedicated to incorporating and overseeing budgets, as well as ensuring the effective management of cash flow to sustain the financial health of the organisation. I am committed to upholding the values and objectives of the company while striving to contribute positively to its growth and success. I enjoy working closely with the team to drive strategic financial planning and decision making that aligns with our vision for the future.
SUZANNE CHRISTIE
LEARNING DISABILITY
NURSE
My name is Suzanne and I have been a Registered Learning Disability Nurse since 2006; I have spent most of my career supporting adults with learning disabilities and/or mental health problems in a wide variety of settings.
I have worked for GS Social Care since August 2020 and absolutely love the fact that our young people and staff teams have access to nursing support around areas such as physical health, emotional wellbeing, reducing distressed behaviours and developing young people's communication as and when is needed, rather than being put on a waiting list. I love working in care as it allows me to help make positive change to the lives of some amazing people; it also allows me the opportunity to constantly learn.

MANAGING DIRECTOR
I have been part of the GS family since 2016! During my time at GS I have taken on many roles starting from support worker, community centre coordinator, training and recruitment, respite coordinator, business development, assistant manager and now my favourite position of all time Registered Manager of our Ofsted registered Children's home. Despite being brand new to the care sector (my degree and previous experience is in fashion design) when joining the company, I have had a passion from the start to develop my skill set and more importantly make a difference to young people's lives. As Registered Manager I have the overall responsibility for day to day management of the Children's Home and is accountable for the delivery of a high quality of service provision, incorporating care, welfare, safety and security of all children and young people in their care in order for them to achieve a secure base. I feel very lucky to have the honour of watching many young people flourish and grow within our service, often this can be from our Children's provision and on to our adults services which means I get to continue watching their journey! My biggest passion in care is advocating for our young people, pushing for them to have incredible opportunities which enrich their lives, as a company we always find ways to overcome any additional needs they might have.
